Light Grey Art Lab released a trailer for their latest artist collaboration, Great Personalities! A dating sim game based on the Myers-Briggs personality test, the 1st of 4 parts will be out for people to play free January 24th. It was a real treat to be included in another of LGAL’s spectacular shows and I had a lot of fun designing a character for the group, “Idealists”. Though I can’t give it all away, here’re some thumbs and crops of the character I built for the show. Check out the list of contributing artists here!!

Was playing with photoshop last night.. something about space and the passing of time.
By the way- Happy New Year, recent followers and old!

Designed this year’s christmas card. Drawing animals in sweaters seems to be a seasonal ritual.
Hope everyone’s had a wonderful holiday so far!

Three trick-or-treaters for Studio 4’s show, Moonlit Specters.
Li’l Frank’s my favorite.

Studio 4 had a gallery opening for their Fall-Halloween art show, “Moonlit Specters”, at Middle Ground Café this weekend. There was art, prints, live jazz (surprise!), and plenty of mulled cider (with rum!) to go around.
The event poster was a lot of fun to make. Around this time last year I found a book with Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and read it for the first time. Even though reading this took place in Bali, it invoked a lot of what I find spooky and unique about small towns in New England. Maybe the next step of devotion is to visit Tarry Town and experience walking the bridge in person.

Painted a sketch I had from Holland travels today! It’s not a secret that I love living spaces with character, so when I came across a cottage neighborhood that was directly seated in a large MOAT I had to stop and sketch it! Vollendam: where your fairytale/pirate/castle dreams can live peacefully with your desire to become a homeowner.

My piece for Light Grey Art Lab's sci-fi-novel-themed art show, Station Zero! I had the pleasure of reinterpreting the cover of a pulp paperback, A for Andromeda (original cover here). Before creating any artwork I read the book; What stuck to me most about it was the questioning of titular female character Andromeda’s humanity and where it fell between her genetic makeup (a  humanoid creation by Earth scientists using alien instructions from the stars). Her own struggle with existence, alliance, lands her in trouble with both man and extraterrestrial kind, and as a result, it lends to her eventual downfall.

DD: Carousel Animal # 3: The Lion. Practicing a similar technique to the one used on this horse. I was having a lot of fun scanning layers of drawings and textures -basically creating an analog photoshop.
BTW Open Studio went well! I still have a few 8” x 11” prints left of this & the horse for sale for $17 each (includes shipping in US, have to check for international). Printed on light-textured ivory card stock for an aged feel; if you’re interested in purchasing one just send me a note!

I’m in Florida all this week, so sadly DDs are postponed until I return home on Friday. Until then, enjoy this (early 2012?) lifestyle drawing of a lovely lady in green-striped leggings. (Reblogging because I still would very much like all of her outfit in my wardrobe.)
